What you may do
Use the solvers as much as you like, for anything you like, including commercially. There is no account, no usage limit and no charge. Teachers may print worksheets made with the scramble maker and distribute them freely, and no attribution is required.
You are welcome to link to any page here, including a search result. No permission needed.
What we ask you not to do
- Automated scraping at a rate that degrades the site for other people. If you want the word data, the sources are named on the about page and both are public domain, so take them from the original rather than from us.
- Reproducing whole pages of our writing as your own. The word lists are public domain; the prose is not.
- Attempting to interfere with the site or the systems it runs on.
Accuracy, and its limits
We take the word list seriously and we say plainly where it falls short. The about page explains that it is based on ENABLE plus the modern two-letter additions. That puts it close to the North American list and noticeably smaller than Collins, which is what British clubs play.
That means the site cannot be treated as an authority in a game. A word appearing here is not a guarantee that it will survive a challenge under whatever rules you are playing, and a word missing here is not proof it is invalid. If a game matters, the tournament dictionary in force for that game is the only thing that settles it.
Fair play
Whether using a solver mid-game is acceptable is between you and the people you are playing with, and many games and clubs prohibit it. We provide the tool; how you use it is yours to decide, and we would gently suggest that reviewing a rack after your turn is both more defensible and more useful.
Trademarks
Game names used on this site belong to their owners and are used only to describe what the tools are for. The disclaimer page sets this out in full. This site is independent and not connected to any game publisher.
No warranty
The site is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. We do not promise it will be available without interruption or free of errors, and we are not liable for any loss arising from using it or from being unable to use it. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Changes
These terms may change, and the date at the top will be updated when they do. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting the revised version.
